Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has spent the past month and a half teasing whether he would play Shazam or Black Adam in DC Comics’ eventual Shazam movie. So, it’s only fitting that he would be the one to finally set the record straight.

We were hoping for The Rock to play Shazam, because that would have been an excellent twist. But we know he’ll bring a lot to Black Adam, who it seems as if they’re trying to spin less as a villain and more as an antihero looking to institute his own brand of justice. (Perhaps ala his storyline in DC’s 52 series a few years back.)
After Batman v Superman, Shazam is all but confirmed to be DC’s next movie, set for release on August 5, 2016. Warner Bros also recently reserved a number of movie website domain names, including ShazamMovie.com. Although who knows…maybe we’re getting a Black Adam film instead of Shazam? Knowing how much Johnson likes to tease new projects on his Twitter, we’ll be watching his timeline for news…and for that first look at his costume.
